In 2013, Westside Baptist Church partnered with Feeding South Florida and started a dry food pantry to meet the food needs of members and the surrounding community. They started by providing service to just one person and have been blessed to currently assist over 100 people a month from the community. They are now also able to provide fresh produce. In addition to providing food support, the prayer requests of consumers are posted to a prayer wall and actively prayed over by staff. In the future, they would like to see the ministry expand to serve more people and to offer refrigerated goods in addition to their current dry food supply.
“We’re not here just to give food, but to pray for you and introduce you to a loving God.” – Jill O’Dell, Food Pantry Coordinator
“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink,….And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.” – Matthew 25:35,40
